The world is now a global village and so is Africa. The lapse in development growth in this rich continent can be directly attributed to instability as a result of bad governance, civil unrest, insurgency, terrorism and neglect. solutions must also reflect a global nature from both affected and vulnerable states. More importantly Africans must take front role responsibility in resolving their problems.

The current boom in military spending in Africa indicates that the continent is fast becoming a hotbed of insecurity and Islamic related violent extremism. Hot spots include the Horn of Africa , the oil rich mediterranean belt and the Sahel region in the North . Recent terrorist attacks and political unrest in Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Mali, CAR, Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Burundi indicates that particular attention should be given to strategic solutions and technologies to address this spate of insecurity and terrorism.

The core in every mitigating security solution aimed at addressing this issues in Africa must compose of an in-depth intelligence sharing culture. The entire globe is wrecked by violent extremism and there is a need for all hands on deck to tackle this growing trend by institutionalising a bespoke solution framework.
AL Qaeda core and affiliates, ISIL and its Wilayats have extended their tentacles of Islamic extremism into the Somalia born Al-Shabaab group and Boko Haram in Sub Saharan Africa . As of November 2015, more than 17000 people have been killed and millions displaced as a result of the activities of Boko Haram and government military responses in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. The activities of Boko Haram in this region has created a state of chaos and panic and this calls for African solution providers with understanding of the dynamics of terrorism in this areas to step up and provide befitting solutions. Boko Haram is now a province of ISIL known as the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP)after pledging allegiance to ISIL in April 2015.

Al-Shabaab, described as the Mujahideen of East Africa wants to create an Islamic Caliphate in Somalia. Created in 2004 it has been more affiliated to Al-Qaeda core of Afghanistan. The terrorist group is causing mayhem in Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia with recent attacks in strategic hotels, schools and government buildings. There are fears Al-Shabaab will be tempted to pledge allegiance to ISIL and cut ties with Al-Qaeda core which is considered more 'moderate' in their operational tactics compared to ISIL.
